Projects Completed

Projects which have taken place since 2014:

  • For historical purposes, the photographing of every tombstone and marker in the Cemetery.
  • The purchase of a software program specifically designed to manage the Cemetery’s data, consolidating 140 years of record keeping.
  • Research of Veterans buried in our Cemetery, which increased the total count from 80 to 209. On Memorial Day weekend each year, crosses and flags are placed on those graves, with the help of the VFW and community members.
  • The design and installation of the entrance sign.
  • The creation of the Cemetery’s own website: QuilceneCemetery.org
  • An Eagle Scout project which leveled and / or straightened 25 newer / smaller tombstones.
  • A professional restoration of 40 of the oldest and most fragile tombstones which were tilted or unstable.
  • The purchase and placement of simple tombstones for 92 graves which were previously unmarked; these individuals had dates of death prior to 1995.
  • The purchase and placement of simple metal markers for 35 graves which were previously unmarked; these individuals had dates of death since 1995.
  • The purchase of two portable tents for use during burials.
  • Removal of the large dirt pile at the south edge of the Cemetery.
  • An Eagle Scout project which added a wooden bin for excess dirt storage.
  • An Eagle Scout project which installed aluminum disks at 69 of the existing survey pins; these pins are used when measuring for burials.
  • The construction of a permanent storage shed in the northeast corner of the Cemetery, and the purchase and installation of an ADA Sanican at that location.
  • An Eagle Scout project measuring the exact distances between the aluminum disks, allowing the creation of an accurate CAD map of the Cemetery.
  • The construction of permanent housing for the well pump and pressure tank.
